5 Days | Yellow Mountains - Hongcun/Xidi Village
The best time to visit Huangshan
Huangshan offers captivating views throughout the year, with each season showcasing its unique beauty.
If you are interested in capturing the snow-capped Yellow Mountains, the best time to visit is from late December to January when snowfall is common.
For those seeking the stunning sea of clouds on the mountain top, it typically occurs after rainfall. However, it's important to note that Huangshan experiences rain on approximately 200 days each year. While rain can bring stunning sea of clouds, it may also result in heavy mist, limiting visibility.
During autumn (October to November), you can photograph the mountains and rocks adorned with vibrant autumn foliage. Additionally, certain ancient villages like Tachuan offer incredible photography opportunities when the leaves turn red and yellow.
In spring (March), the rapeseed flower season blankets the area around Huangshan. The yellow flowers surrounding the ancient villages create perfect photography opportunities. One of the most renowned locations for this is Wuyuan, which is approximately a 2-hour drive from downtown Huangshan.

How many days do I need?
According to feedback from our previous customers, they have expressed a preference for spending three days and two nights on Yellow Mountains, along with one day visiting Hongcun and Xidi Ancient Villages. This is also our recommended itinerary.
Due to the unpredictable weather conditions on the mountain top, with nearly 200 days of rain each year, it is advisable to spend more than one night to increase your chances of experiencing the full beauty of the area.
For landscape photographers who are particularly dedicated, we suggest staying for 3-4 nights on the mountain top. This extended duration will provide you with numerous opportunities to capture stunning photographs of sunrise, sunset, and the mesmerizing sea of clouds.
